How to use it
- Enter your package name. Type the application ID of your app, such as com.example.myapp.
- Paste fingerprints. Paste the SHA-256 fingerprint of each signing certificate, one per line.
- Copy or download. Copy the JSON or download assetlinks.json.
- Upload it. Publish the file at https://your-domain/.well-known/assetlinks.json over HTTPS.
What assetlinks.json does
The Digital Asset Links file is a public statement from your website: "this Android app, signed with this certificate, may handle my links." Android downloads it from /.well-known/assetlinks.json on your domain and, when it matches the installed app, opens your links in the app without asking the user to choose. Without it, links still work but users see a "Open with" chooser or stay in the browser.
Which fingerprint to use
- Google Play apps: the app signing key SHA-256 from Play Console → App integrity → App signing (Google re-signs your app). Add your upload key too if you test builds outside Play.
- Apps you share as APK files: the SHA-256 of the key that signs the APK —
keytool -list -v -keystore your.jks.
Checklist
- Served over HTTPS with status 200 and content type
application/json, with no redirects. - Hosted on every host the app handles (for example both
example.comandwww.example.com). - The app's manifest declares an intent filter with
android:autoVerify="true"for those hosts.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I upload assetlinks.json?
At https://your-domain/.well-known/assetlinks.json — the exact path, over HTTPS, without redirects.
Can one file list several apps?
Yes. The file is a JSON array; add one statement per app. Duplicate the object in the output for each package name.
Why are my App Links still opening the browser?
Usually the fingerprint is from the wrong key (use the Play app signing key for Play installs), the file redirects, or the app's intent filter is missing autoVerify.
